Iran’s veteran actor Jamshid Mashayekhi will be honored at the Iranian Academy of the Arts, the institution has said.

Iranian Academy of the Arts announced that the cinema, television and theater actor will be honored for his lifetime’s artistic activities as part of a scheme to honor the veteran artists.

Ali-Reza Esmaeeli, the head of the academy, made the announcement during a meeting with Jamshid Mashayekhi and his son Nader on Wednesday.

Mashayekhi was born on November 27, 1934, in Tehran.

In 1963, he played a role in the short movie 'Snake Cover', directed by Hajir Daryoush.

He officially began his acting career in 1970.

Mashayekhi's debut movie 'Brick and Mirror' (1965) did not keep him away from being involved in theater as he kept playing roles on stage for years and remained faithful to this fine art.

He has been honored with the First Grade Order of Art and Culture.

His roles in historical TV series such as 'Kamal-ol-Molk' (1984) and 'Hezar Dastan' (1987) exhibit his acting ability.

He has appeared in numerous movies, including 'The Cow', 'Retribution', 'The Fateful Day', 'A House on the Water', 'Thirteen 59 (1980)' and 'Cheque'.

Mashayekhi has also taken part in several TV series such as 'Autumn in the Desert', 'Imam Ali (AS)', 'The Lost Paradise', 'Mother', 'Tabriz in Fog' and 'It's All There'.

The honoring ceremony will take place in the month of Esfand of the Iranian calendar (Esfand begins on February 20 and ends on March 20).
